The essentials
This very low mileage (30,000) original factory 1977 Daimler Double Six coupe is part of a collection of significant XJ Coupes and is fitted with its original GKN alloy wheels from new. The car is in superb original factory condition. The car still retains its original black leather interior, with its original headlining, carpets, and excellent wood veneers all still in pristine condition.
Under the bonnet still lie many of the original factory decals fitted to the car when new, with all the original under bonnet items in as new condition still today. A Leycare service sticker remains on the driver's door shut. The car includes a sizeable history file with documentation, bills of maintenance, the current V5C registration document and its Jaguar booklets & manuals from new. Fewer than a hundred of these Daimlers are thought to still exist and this must be one of the very best of them.
The Daimler Double Six Coupe is a rare two-door version of the Daimler four door saloon. It was the last car from Jaguar/Daimler to be designed by Sir William Lyons. The Coupe was first shown to the public in September and October of 1973 at the London, Paris and Frankfurt Motor Shows. It was announced that both 4.2 litre (6 cylinder) and 5.3 litre (12 cylinder) versions would be available for the 1974 model year. The Daimler Double Six Coupe is the Holy Grail when it comes to the two door.
